I am currently accepting electric and acoustic guitar students of all levels, ages 8 through 80. Currently, I teach via video chat with students anywhere with an internet connection.
In my lessons, we explore music that the student loves and relate it to the guitar and musicianship (music theory, ear training, composition, improvisation, and music history). Ultimately, the goal is for my students to develop the tools necessary to play and write the music they love without needing to consult a teacher or online resources.
For the past 6 summers I’ve been the Guitar Faculty at Camp Encore/Coda, a music camp in Sweden, ME. At camp I work with students between the ages of 9-17 in a variety of contexts. These include private lessons, classes in musicianship, songwriting, jazz history, and improvisation, as well as groups ranging from classical chamber duos to jazz combos, rock bands, and large jazz ensembles.
Some of my students have gone on to pursue music degrees at schools including New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music/Harvard, CalArts, and Western Michigan University.
I earned a BM in Jazz Guitar Performance from the Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester) in 2012. Further biographical information, as well as audio and video examples of my compositions, performances, and recordings are available throughout this website.
